Re: Invitation – Ending Cat Overpopulation: It Takes a Village!

Friends of Homeless Felines postponed the March 17 meeting on "homeless cats" due to a snowstorm that blanketed western PA. The (renamed) meeting, Ending Cat Overpopulation: It Takes a Village!, has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 19, 2007, from 9 AM – 5 PM. Lunch,  as well as refreshments, will be served. We very much hope you can attend, as the success of effectively helping homeless cats in western PA depends on a strong alliance and innovative programs.

As you can see from the attached agenda, the meeting will focus on round-table discussions that encourage full attendee participation to work through the many problems and potential solutions that surround the homeless cat situation. In addition, we have a dynamic speaker list! Lisa Lendl-Lander of Homeless Cat Management Team will speak on the high-volume spay/neuter clinic coming to Pittsburgh and Diane Less-Baird of Angels for Animals will inform us as to how she  successfully raised thousands of dollars for a new shelter in a rural Ohio community.

Paul Jolly, Vice President and Director of PETCO Foundation will give a presentation on grant writing. We are pleased to announce that PETCO has graciously offered to fund a small grant proposal during the interactive grant writing session.

The Monroeville PETCO (store 1822) is sponsoring the meeting and has arranged a meeting site in Pittsburgh at the Penn Hills Volunteer Fire Station, 2797 Robinson Boulevard. The fire station is easily accessible from the PA Turnpike and 376. Directions will be sent upon attendance confirmation.

If you plan to attend, please mail the enclosed RSVP to us as quickly as possible, as space size is limited to 60 people. Alternately, you can register online at www.tomcatboutique.com/ferals. At this website, you can also view a list of animal groups (shelters/humane societies/rescues) of western Pennsylvania. Any updates or clarifications of this comprehensive list would be appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you on May 19! In the meantime, if you have any questions, please call Jan Raffaele at 703-354-1650.
